Ectoin is a cyclic amino acid derivative obtained by microbial fermentation. It was first isolated by Galinski in 1985 from the extremely halophilic bacterium Ectothiorhodospira, found in the Salt Lake of Wadi Natron desert in Egypt. As an important osmotic pressure compensation solute, it generally exists in halophilic bacteria, so it is also called "halotolerant bacteria extract". Under the harsh environmental conditions of high salt, high temperature and high ultraviolet radiation, Ectoin protects halophilic bacteria from damage
Ectoin is a strongly hydrophilic substance. These small amino acid derivatives bind to the water molecules around them and create what is called an "Ectoin hydroelectricity complex." These complexes then surround cells, enzymes, proteins, and other biomolecules again, forming protective, nourishing, and stable hydration shells around them.
Ectoin's has a superior stability and protection confer visible and long-term anti-aging effects on our skin. Clinical studies have shown ectoins can continuous enhancement the conditions of skin, such as increased elasticity and reduced wrinkles or skin roughness. By repairing the skin, restoring and regulating the skin's water content, Ectoin reduces TEWL (transdermal water loss), improves hydration, and retains skin moisture for up to 7 days without re-use;
In addition, Ectoin can calms and soothes the irritated and damaged skin. The process of skin regeneration is significantly increased. Because of its excellent anti-inflammatory properties, Ectoin is even used to treat atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis) or allergic skin diseases.
Ectoin is widely used in personal care product . Because of its mild, non-irritating characteristics , MAX moisturizing power and no greasy feeling, Ectoin can be added to all kinds of skin care products, such as toner, sunscreen, cream, facial mask liquid, spray, repair liquid, toner and so on.
