Nattokinase (NK for short), also known as subtilisin, is a serine protease produced by Bacillus subtilis natto during the fermentation of natto. It has the functions of dissolving thrombus, reducing blood viscosity, improving blood circulation, softening and increasing blood vessel elasticity.
In vitro and in vivo experiments have shown that nattokinase can activate prourokinase into urokinase. Because of its special biological activity, nattokinase has a broad development prospect in health care products and functional food industries
